Welcome to Skopun!

We are doing our best to ensure that you will have a fantastic time during your stay in this beautiful village.

Skopun is located on the island of Sandoy in the Faroe Islands. The village was established in 1833 by the Danish government as a strategic location for travelers. Skopun became the only place on the island where boats could safely reach from all directions, regardless of the weather. The goal was to provide a place where travelers could rest, eat, and sleep before continuing their journey to other villages on the island.

Skopun also holds a significant place in history as home to the first road built in the Faroe Islands. It was once a hub of modernity, with one of the first stores, a cinema, a youth house, and even a dancing hall.

Today, Skopun is the second-largest village on Sandoy and continues to thrive with a variety of amenities. You’ll find great shops, the stone factory, museums, monuments, and even the world’s largest mailbox! The village also offers incredible hiking opportunities and beautiful natural surroundings, making it a wonderful place to explore.

We are excited for all of you to experience the charm of Skopun and feel free to contact us, and we can guide you through a great journey!
